How to Write an Article That Will Get Read by T. J. Philpott

Knowing how to write an article that readers will take the time to read is a valuable skill. It doesn’t make much sense to put the effort into writing anything if nobody reads it.

Let’s quickly review 3 key areas you need to consider that will help you write interesting articles that get read:

WHAT READERS WANT

If you’re writing to entertain or attract readers you must first consider what it is that they are interested in. If you choose an unpopular topic the chances of your article getting read obviously minimizes.

So how do we know what people are interested in? Check the news or current magazines and see what they’re writing about. What are people in your own circles talking about or what concerns them. Go to the internet and research the current trends at such sites as google trends, dogpile, or buzz yahoo. These are excellent sources that supply the most current trends.

If you choose to base your article writing on a subject you’re passionate about it may not always get read. When you do go in this direction be sure your passion is reflected in your writing. Purposely compose your article in an interesting or intriguing fashion to make you subject more appealing.

ARTICLE RESEARCH

After deciding upon your topic does some digging around for more information to enrich the content of your article. Article research is important from the standpoint that you’ll portray yourself as more of an expert to your readers. This will also make your article writing easier and with enough research you can accumulate enough information on which to write several interesting articles.

The article research you do regardless of the subject is the basis upon which you can build your reputation as an authority on the subject. Readers will then more readily recognize your name and may even search for more articles you may have written.

DELIVER ON THE PROMISE

Every article sets out with a purpose whether it’s to inform, entertain, or perhaps intrigue. Remember the original intention of your article and be sure you follow thru and deliver to the reader what you set out to deliver. Don’t leave them hanging or confused by introductions, article content, or conclusions that may be inconsistent or incomplete.

Most importantly always remember the statement of your articles intentions begin with the HEADLINE! Be descriptive and accurate when you develop the headline so as to not mislead the reader. Avoid the temptation to put more emphasis on attracting readers if it means the headline may seem unrelated to the article content itself.

Knowing how to write an article usually begins with considering what your readers are interested in or concerned with. Peeking at the current trends will give you plenty of ideas upon which you can base your article research. After that just tell your readers what it is you’re writing about and then deliver that to them.
