Credit Theft Protection
March 17, 2009
LifeLock is sort of stretching it for my gadget category, but in the spirit of a gadget this security service looks to be a life saver. As someone who has had their identity stolen I can say I really wish I had a service like this way back when. Unlike today where the most common form of theft is over the internet, my wallet was lifted with all my ID and credit cards. I don’t know how many people were using my identity, but at one point in time I was pulled over for having a taillight out and when the cop came back with a drawn pistol rather than my license I knew the full extent of the problem. Let’s just say that was a rather unpleasant incident.
Life Lock would probably have done much good way back in the day since the extent of internet use back in 1992 was mostly for trading porn rather than private information, but if it happened now they would be all over it it. in the end if you are serious about the security of your personal information you should check out LifeLock.com.
I don’t ever want to be a victim again and I can’t reccomend it to you either. Too much is at stake and not just your credit, a trip down to the station because someone has used your name probably isn’t the worst either, but it still isn’t a picnic.
iPods and Aftershave
February 15, 2009
Modern men aren’t looking for old fashioned gifts these days. In fact, I think most of us would assume that people forget about those sorts of things too. A much better gift than aftershave for men would easily be a iPod or other bit or technology. While the thought behind the gifts is always important it really does require some serious thoughts. If you are looking for gift ideas try thinking of things like an iPod shuffle or bigger if they like music. If your man is into movies try a subscription to NetFlix. Other sorts of technology gifts could easily include gift certificates from any number of places that carry electronics and or computer equipment.
In the end, men are just plain with the times. This is something our women just need to realize. We will always smile and accept the aftershave and underwear we get, but we would really appreciate it if you put some better thought behind what we would like rather than what tradition gives you a notion of.
